In this spectacular adaptation by Francis Ford Coppola, of the famous novel by Bram Stoker a young English solicitor, Jonathan Harker (Keanu Reeves) is sent to a gloomy village in the mists of eastern Europe.

Here, Harker is captured and imprisoned by Prince Vlad Dracula (Gary Oldman), who, after seeing a photo of Harker's fiancee Mina Murray (Winona Ryder), travels to London where he starts a reign of terror and seduction.

Slowly draining the life out of Lucy Westenra (Sadie Frost), Mina's best friend encourages her friends to gather together to try to drive Dracula away. Harker tracks Dracula back to his castle after he kills Mina, and burns him in his coffin.
