On the night of Tuesday 4 June 1968, presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy, brother of murdered JFK, arrived at LA's Ambassador Hotel on his campaign trail. The interweaving tales of 22 employees and guests of the hotel are told in a series of vignettes that encapsulate the state of 1960s American society. From a frightened Vietnam conscript (Elijah Wood) to an alcoholic lounge singer (Demi Moore), the characters represent a nation hoping for a brighter future, a hope that would be cut short when Bobby Kennedy was struck by an assassin's bullet in the early hours of the morning.

Written, directed by and starring Emilio Estevez, this ensemble drama was a brave attempt to focus on the people and events surrounding the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. But despite the all-star ex-Bratpack cast - and the fact that it took Estevez seven years to get the movie made - the film is not an out-and-out winner. Nominated for a Golden Globe, it received mixed critical reviews.
