Ken Annakin's epic war film is set in the winter of 1944, when the Allied advance into Germany was halted and nearly reversed by a massive Nazi counter-offensive in the Ardennes. Robert Shaw plays Colonel Martin Hessler, the German commander, with Robert Ryan as his Allied counterpart, General Grey. The film also stars Henry Fonda, Dana Andrews, Telly Savalas and Pier Angeli.
