This knockabout and very dumb comedy is set in the sexist world of 1970s newscasting. Will Ferrell (pictured) plays Ron Burgundy, San Diego's top-rated anchorman, who reigns supreme in the all-male world of television news until ambitious female reporter Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) arrives and upsets the status quo. When Veronica steps in to present the programme in Ron's absence, an uncivil war breaks out in the newsroom...

Uneven and lacking focus at times, it's full of puerile humour. Worth a look, but somewhat hit and miss.
