Comedy drama set in the 1940s big band scene. When a man's dream of fighting for king and country is ended by a plane crash, he falls back on his musical skills. This leads him to London and an unfortunate encounter with a wide boy, which draws him into the black market underworld of gang warfare - and a love affair with a Mayfair beauty.
