Strong anti-war drama, set during the First World War, about a newly commissioned Royal Flying Corps officer who is posted to a squadron in France commanded by his former public-school house captain. He finds that his former idol has become brutally disillusioned, barely holding his ragged nerves together with alcohol. Adapted from R C Sherriff's classic play Journey's End.
