Adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel about the friendship that develops between a bright but awkward 12-year-old boy and a wayward thirtysomething man masquerading as a lone parent in a bid to seduce single mothers. Ironically, it is the boy who initiates the bachelor into the world of adult responsibility and meaningful relationships as the bond between them deepens.
