When a young Englishwoman visits India to visit her fiancee in the late 1920's. She is astounded by the arrogant superiority that the British colonials have adopted against the natives.

Tensions between Indians and the colonial British come to a boil when she accuses a young Indian Doctor of rape during a visit to caverns.

This is a study of colonial relations and the nature of memory, based on E. M. Forster's novel.
