US Army lawyer Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise, pictured) makes his plea-bargains on the baseball field, coasting through his military service with the hope of never seeing the inside of a courtroom. But when an unhappy soldier dies at the hands of his fellow Marines, Cruise and his slightly-more dedicated colleague (Demi Moore) must defend their admittedly guilty clients by uncovering the conspiracy at the heart of Guantanamo Bay.

An Oscar-nominated, powerhouse performance from Jack Nicholson steals the show, commanding the screen as the near-Napoleonic camp commander with an absolute belief in his own rightness. Adapted from Aaron Sorkin's acclaimed Broadway production, this is a slick, high-octane drama that has quickly become a modern classic.

Highly recommended.
