Suspenseful western about a drought-devastated farmer who is desperate for money and, for $200, agrees to guard a notorious outlaw until the train comes to take him to jail. However, the farmer has not reckoned on his prisoner's psychological wiles and must resist manipulative strategies aimed at permitting him to escape. And when the outlaw's gang arrives, the town's officials abandon the farmer.
