Letting Go

This episode takes place in one dramatic day. Yokas persuades her recalcitrant teenage daughter, Emily, to attend a drug counselling session, and is perplexed by the outcome of the meeting. Carlos languishes on restricted duty after getting into trouble with top department officials, but Doc defies orders and allows the elated Carlos to help with emergency calls. Doherty and the firefighters rush to free a suspected kidnapper and his 18-month-old baby from a crashed car. Later, recovering from a severe beating, Sullivan struggles to maintain his composure as he and Davis encounter the child's unstable mother, who refuses to allow the infant to be treated for an accidental overdose.
