While Doc and Carlos check on housebound elderly people, their ambulance burns out due to Carlos leaving the engine running. Bosco arrests a loitering young man, Latrell Griffith, and faces a difficult decision when an immigrant shop owner shoots and wounds a teenage shoplifter and only Latrell, a former medic, can save the victim. A riot ensues and nightfall brings more unrest as the nervous cops try to keep the peace. Meanwhile, Yokas and Fred are stuck in a lift and Fred has a heart attack before they can be rescued.
