When a Republican Supreme Court justice suddenly dies, Bartlet and his staff begin the search for a worthy successor. Amongst the nominees, Glenn Close stars as liberal judge Evelyn Baker Lang, a highly contentious choice for the position. Potential candidates visit the West Wing offices, but when the President meets with bright but conservative judge Christopher Mulready, everyone is intrigued.
