Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia during the Great Depression, this is the heart-warming story of a close-nit family - the Waltons. Based on the experiences of Earl Hammer Jr. events unfold through the eyes of John Boy Walton (Richard Thomas), an aspiring writer who portrays the trails and tribulations, the joys, struggles and relationships of the Walton family and their small lumber mill business. In this episode, A young girl is found on the doorstep of the Walton home. They take her in and later realise she is deaf. John Boy helps to teach her sign language.
