Student Nurse Samantha Beaumont is struggling to cope with the news that she is pregnant and confides in Dr Jill Weatherill who begins the arrangements for her to have a termination. Samantha attends her appointment and is intimidated by the fact that her consultant Dr Sedgewick, is a man and not the woman she requested. He refuses to carry out

the termination and insists she is to have the baby. Samantha is utterly distraught and makes a drastic decision that sets her on a path towards leaving The Royal, her colleagues and friends.
