A routine visit turns into a nightmare for Dr Jill Weatherill when she gets taken hostage by an ex-prisoner of war, Patrick Maver. Obviously suffering from psychological damage from the war, Patrick has barricaded himself into his home and booby-trapped the surrounding land with mines. Believing he is under siege when Dr Ormerod comes looking for his wife, Patrick brandishes a loaded gun and threatens to kill Jill.
