It's Valentines Day in Orange County and Sandy is trying to make amends with Kirsten for his secrecy surrounding Rebecca's return. Kirsten, however, is unimpressed with his gifts and confronts him with her feelings about Rebecca. Seth, Summer and Zach drive to San Diego to pitch their comic book idea; but Seth is determined to use the time together to win back Summer's heart. Meanwhile, Ryan is trying to spend Valentine's Day with Lindsay, but her loyalty to Caleb gets in the way, so Ryan comes up with a challenge for Caleb to sort the issue once and for all. Marissa and Alex take a step forward in their relationship as Julie returns early from her trip to Europe wanting to reconnect with Marissa.
