Summer, Marissa, Seth and Ryan experience car problems and spend a night at a hotel on the way there. Summer and Seth continue their tension-filled flirting and banter. Ryan and Marissa, meanwhile, are feeling awkward and distant after the previous episode's events, but share a common understanding after Jimmy calls Marissa to inform her of the impending divorce. Once in Mexico, the foursome finds the bar where the rest of its class is partying hard. Among the drunken, sweaty bodies, Marissa walks into Luke kissing and groping a fellow girl in their grade. She leaves in a rage. Feeling abandoned by Luke and her parents, Marissa mixes a handful of painkillers with tequilla shots.
