This is the BBC's new detective drama which teams the suave DI Thomas Lynley (Nathaniel Parker) with dour DS Barbara Havers (Sharon Small). Barbara is a woman of the opposite end of the social spectrum. Sparks will fly and feathers will be ruffled but, instead of resolviong itself in romance, they steer off into more interesting human territory. In the first episode "The Great Deliverance" Life in the peaceful Yourkshire village of Keldale is turned upside-down when the local priest, Father Hart (Peter Halliday), stumbles across a gruesome murder. Local farmer William Tey has been decapitated in his barn. His obese 16-year-old daughter, Roberta (Rebecca Gallacher), is found nerxt to her father's body in a severely traumatised state.
