Pilot episode featuring Ngaio Marsh's aristocratic detective Chief Inspector Alleyn. While on holiday in the Norfolk Broads, Alleyn meets Agatha Troy who runs a summer school for artists in Buckinghamshire. Their paths cross again when he is sent to investigate the murder of a model at the summer school, where he finds that the artists attending all have something to hide.
