This series consists of three 10x55min series.

The first series sees a group of English women in 1941 Singapore who become shipwrecked while trying to escape the Japanese invasion, and are captured and put in a prison camp. They and their Dutch companions must all make drastic adjustments to and discoveries about their lives.

The second series, sees the group being moved to a new camp with a completely new pecking order and a particularly vicious camp leader.

And at the beginning of the third series the prisoners are liberated and must re-adjust themselves to live in Singapore, in the aftermath of the war.

    i remeber watching thise when it was repeted a few years ago for a school prodgect and it was realy powerful now i know why my great aunt Gracie hates the Japanese so musch she was a real life prisinor she died 3 years ago but its an awsome drama and i watched it to day agein iv noticed theirs a lot of snobbery in the camp and bitching amongst the women at times i felt kinda sorry for the Gaurds having to listen to it the woman who plays the Nurse is a great actress shes Diane in Waiting for god now it realy shows that Japan has skelitons in its cubboard now they want to be very western with thein Jpop anime guys [and girls] with bleached white blond hair and all their latest gadgets iv nothing agenst the Japanese some of the modern young guys like the pop stars are cute but i bet they deny their history they should make thise tv drama part of history in schools i love thise show
