Running Time: 50 minutes (approx)

First aired in 1998, Playing the Field is a drama series set in Yorkshire. The idea behind the series is to look inside the lives of the members of this amateur women's football team, the only place they get to escape their ordinary and mundane lives.

The on-the-field trials and tribulations and the off-the-field lives, loves and infidelities of 'The Castlefield Blues' are portrayed in this fabulous, and often moving, drama series.

The 'Castlefield Blues' are no ordinary football team. They are eleven strong women who know what they want and won't let anything stand in their way of achieving their ultimate goal which is to win the Women's FA Cup.

The Castlefield Blues are an under funded and extremely badly managed women's football team set in Castlefield, South Yorkshire.

The team members' loyalty to their team, the game and their team mates far outweighs the impossibility of them ever winning an actual match but they love what they do anyway.
