    Super stuff, this. You can almost smell the grime. But virtually every character is given the chance to show that individual moral ambivalence is forced by circumstances....the cast is brilliant at conveying such nuances. Yes, the kids are good, but that's because they blend into the production and don't just invite mothering. Try to watch, but if you miss out, get the DVD. Well done to Beeb, cast and crew.
