The commissioner revokes Monk's licence after he accidentally erases years of vital computer files. Stottlemeyer is left on his own to solve the case of a woman killed with a chainsaw. However, a mysterious hat thief and Karen's documentary about her husband may provide a means to catch the killer and get the obsessive-compulsive detective reinstated.
