Controversial plans to build a Goodfare supermarket in Elverton-cum-Latterly lead to murder when a man is stabbed to death. Frank Hopkirk was advising on pollution at the proposed site, but seemed to spend more time visiting female residents for sport and cookery "lessons". Can Barnaby and Jones discover the truth about village life and learn what is really polluting Elverton?
