Feature-length drama about a detective chief inspector whose patch is picturesque rural Buckinghamshire. An ancient portrait of a wealthy royalist is vandalised in the local museum, and there then ensues a succession of supernatural occurrences and apparitions. When a descendant of the wealthy royalist is found dead beside his ancestor's grave, the inspector investigates and unearths a story of greed and villainy.
