Part one of two. Briscoe and Curtis join forces with their Baltimore colleagues to investigate the murder of a government official. It soon emerges that the deceased had been stalked by a man because of her lesbian affair with a married woman, who pleads for her identity to be kept secret. However, an over-zealous attorney embarks on a crusade to make the information public knowledge, going so far as to take the officers to court in an effort to force them to reveal their source - but his interest in the case raises suspicions
