Briscoe and Green investigate the stabbing and murder of a taxi driver whose body was left under the vehicle. The finger of suspicion points to a man who took a drunken ride in the cab on the same night - an ex-convict who is also a gifted writer - and his protege, whose fingerprints were found on a book and cigar left at the scene. Saul Rubinek, JK Simmons and Sonia Braga guest star alongside Jerry Orbach and Jesse L Martin.
