Determined to make the most of the situation, Alex got herself a law degree through an Internet law school, and also vowed to track down her husband who had taken their young daughter. Once out and back in the real world though, life doesn't prove that simple, ex-cons can't get jobs practicing law - that is until Alex uses her powers of persuasion on Hamilton Whitney (Richard Thomas, The Waltons), a San Francisco attorney, who finally gives in and hires her as a paralegal.
