Amy oversees a case involving a 5-year-old girl who is at the centre of a custody battle between the girl's 21-year-old half sister and their parents. During the custody hearing, Amy tries to get to the root of why the girl's half-sister feels so strongly about removing the child from her home. Meanwhile, Maxine tries to broker a deal between a foster and a biological mother of a young boy so that both can keep the child in their lives.
