Drama about a widower who, having been forced to care for his granddaughter, finds his life turned upside down by the new responsibility. When his estranged daughter dies, Harry Chapin must care for the mixed-race granddaughter he never knew existed. But he soon discovers the girl's will is equal to his own, and finds his parenting skills stretched to the limit by the eight-year-old child.
