Drama series about a policeman in Yorkshire in the 1960s. When a young soldier injures his sadistic sergeant during an army exercise, he hides out in a nearby forest, stealing food to survive. But then Nick is called to investigate a series of break-ins, and he realises that the thefts are linked to the deserter.
