Part one of a two-part drama. Jack Hardy is the sole survivor of a mysterious submarine disaster during the Second World War. It is now 1981 and the ill-fated sub has resurfaced, miraculously intact. But what is waiting for the new crew under the grey waters of the Baltic turns out to be much worse than the Soviet submarines they were expecting.
