The ER are set for a busy shift when an explosion in a school's science lab brings in multiple casualties, including the seriously hurt teacher. Mark rescues Carter from a very angry parent, with quite serious consequences. Carol and Lucy are trying to talk two patients to enter a drug rehabilitation clinic. Jeanie worries over her new son's medical condition and Peter comforts a boy who has discovered he is HIV+ after donating blood for his brother. Meanwhile Mark has words with Kerry over Lawrence's attitude problems while Carter invites him to a hockey game and Elaine tells him some distressing news. Kerry's limp is causing concern within the ER staff.
