Carter chooses another student who can't handle the pace and gets sick in ER, while, at the same time, Carter is having trouble pleasing Peter. Carol defends Doug against Anna's nasty comments, who reviews her opinions when observing Doug's professionalism in relating some tragic news to a family. Meanwhile a crack addict has come in complaining of stomach pains as it transpires that she is in labour and Jeanie is left no alternative but to break her guidelines and treat a patient where there is a risk of blood transfer.
