Mark leaves for San Diego to be with his recently injured mother, and Cynthia follows him. It soon becomes apparent to Mark that his mother is showing signs of senile dementia and her brutal honesty forces Cynthia and Mark to examine their relationship. Here Mark admits that is purely sexual so Cynthia returns to Chicago. Meanwhile a helicopter crash has resulted in the victims arriving at the Military ER where Mark and his father assist, therefore developing a better understanding of each other and finally bonding.
