Dawson tries to deal with Mitch's sudden death by putting all of his energy into the funeral arrangements, but his strong exterior soon begins to crack when he thinks Mitch may have died disappointed in his decision to drop out of USC. Gale struggles with her grief when she realises Lily will never know her father. The old Capeside gang return to give their support, but Joey is upset when she learns that she is the last person Dawson wants to turn to in his hour of need.
