Detective drama series. The death of a powerful entrepreneur brings Dalziel back to an estranged dysfunctional family and the love of his life. Dalziel's entanglement with the woman becomes more and more alarming and suspicious, resulting in accusations and the disintegration of a once-impenetrable friendship with Pascoe. As he is crushed by betrayal and his own naivety, he has to face up to the cover up of the mass murder of innocent people. Will Pascoe be there to pick up the pieces?
