A mother gives birth to twins, one black and one white. In surgery, the aesthesia isn't enough, and the patient is awake but paralysed during surgery. Everyone is more upset though, about an off-colour comment Kate makes, not realising the patient can hear. Lisa is feeling overwhelmed, but then meets a young genius who reminds her of herself when she was younger.
