A basketball star's five-year-old son is kidnapped. The ransom demand is agreed to, but the attempt to drop off the money goes tragically wrong and, when the boy is killed, Catherine and Warrick must track the murderer. Elsewhere, Nick and Grissom investigate the case of a man with a wooden stake in his head who died after a high-speed chase.
