Detective Chief Inspector Frank Burnside (Christopher Ellison) is the head of a top police team within the National Crime Squad.

Joined by Detective Sergeant Dave Summers (Justin Pierre) and Detective Constable Sam Philips (Zoe Eales).

This National Crime Squad is the British police's latest weapon against tackling crime, both in Britain and abroad, and has been dubbed the British FBI

Burnside's unit delves deeper into the darker side of crime than 'The Bill' does. It becomes more involved in the murkier world of bigger crime, like illegal firearms, gang warfare, serial killers, etc..
