Those well-loved vets, including a young pre-'Doctor Who' Peter Davison, save the lives of more out-of-sorts animals, gaining the gratitude of the countryfolk of 1930s Yorkshire. Cost-conscious Siegfried decides to limit the use of a new and expensive brand of tablets. James and Helen try to adopt a wayward cat.
