I do enjoy your "The American Future: A history" on BBC2. However, I disagree with your statement that religious freedom was first declared in Virginia / USA. In fact, as I was taught in the thirties and forties, it was the unprecedented decision and declaration in Erdély (Transylvania) in 1568 at the "Tordai országgyülés" (Parliament of Torda) that: "No person can be persecuted in any form for his/her religious views and belief"!!!Perhaps as a great scholar of history you could confirm or otherwise my statement above in due course.

fascinating, engaging, informative series. the civil war became alive and real and gave a lot of insight into american attitudes today. looking forward to the rest of the series. schama brings history to life. i have watched the british series over and over and will do the same for this one.
