The reality of work in the UK is quite simply that it doesn't pay to work, i`m not on the sick (incapacity benefit or whatever), I am just on JSA which is less, and it doesn't pay for me to work. So people who are on the sick and get more than me definatly won't benefit from working. You can do your calculations and try to tell people that we would be better off working, but there is all sorts of things you have to worry about while working (and pay for) which you simply don't need to do while on JSA or other benefits. For example Rent costs a fortune if you work, or nothing if you are on JSA. You only have to pay many taxes if you work. You have to pay for the dentists if you work. You have to pay to travel to (and from) work. You lose JSA (thats over £60 a week). So when everything is taken into consideration and you work out just how much better off you are for working, you divide that amount by the number of hours you work, you will see you are actualy working for some silly amount like 30p an hour. I don't know about you but I consider my time to be worth much more than that. And of course I don't need to work because I manage to save about £100 a month while on JSA. There is nothing to temp people to work these days because benefits are so generous.
dear sirs: is there any chance you could do a documentary on one if not all of the credit bureaus e.g. expedian?
i am an american living in the uk.(now also a british citizen). the reason i left the usa was because of these companies collecting information on me and everyone in the usa without their consent. i recently had problems with expedian because of some mis- information that the bank, HALIFAX, gave them. first of all, i want to know who gave expedian permission to collect information on me and the rest of the uk. and why they just accept information from big companies, e.g. banks, without clarifing it whether it is correct or not. 1984 is slowing creeping into england like a cancer. HALIFAX has ruined my credit-because they gave expedian the wrong information, leaving my dependent daughter, my cat and dog and me homeless at the age of 61. halifax can't even balance their own books, much less mine. when is this policing going to stop? can't you do something to expose these companies by showing the public how they can destroy many peoples lives. thank you in advance for any comments you can give me.
I watched with interest the programme on sexual bullying and feel it is very worrying. However, it would seem to me that there are responsibilities on the side of parents, schools and the media.
In my view parents in the first instance have a responsibility to monitor what their children watch on the television, access on their computers/ mobile phones and the way they dress. It appears to have become the accepted norm to sexulise everthing from advertising day to day commodities to the way parents allow their often very young children to dress and speak.
So much of what one sees in the press and on the television is around sex and the more risky it is the better the media seem to like it!!! Quite frankly much of it is offensive.
I am not a prude by any means, but I do believe there is a certain code of behaviour. Much of what is pushed in our face on a daily basis is totally unacceptable and as is proving to be the case, leaves young people vulnerable and at risk. If parents, the media and computer sites do not set an example and help young people to understand what is acceptable or not, then there is not much hope and one can only dispair, as to at where it might end.
Young people need clear boundries as to what is acceptable or not, be given respect and hopefully they will show respect to others.
why is it social services can film an talk about cases that are obviously in court proceedings yet if the joe public were to do that which we are prohibeted from doin so we would suffer a fine, lose our child/children,be sent to prison. im disgusted by what i saw an it just makes me wish the goverment would actually do something in the event that they break rules/laws that they are punished social services need change now not in the future!!!! in every case i've ever heard about they always use tricks an decieve people including out right lying out thy parents involved i should no as i have suffered by the hands of social services and they used every trick in the book to take my children because of deppression they said i was unintentionally emotionally negleting my children because of my deppression i lost my case due to the fact that i suddenly delovoped borderline personality disorder and also to the fact i was involved with social as a child which they negleted to listen to any1 about what was happening and now have used that against me i would like to mention i never harmed my children in any way i loved them an they stole them from me. if any one would like to no the real facts on social services go to www.forced.adoption.com also www.fassit.co.uk these sites are the most truth you will ever find out about social services and just how little they will use to take your children from you also do a search for the 2005 pre-birth protocal all of this is what they dont want you to know ps please dont use my name as im still in court proceedings and even though i have not spoke about my case im sure they will find away to punish me for voicing my opinion many thanks for reading. m
