We love Tommys challenge and I have one for him in my garden. We have done so much work with decking and sheds and things. but now need help with stuff we cant deal with.are you recording any more challenges and could we be considered if you are. Thank you
Great series. My wife and I are DIY'ers and get lots of tips from the show. If interested we have plans and planning permission to build above our garage but need help on getting started. Regards Andy and Barb.
We both watch Tommy all the time, we like the banter that goes on between them. It makes good watching and the projects they do are amazing they make it all look so easy but its not. I have a big challenge for him, it is my back garden. It slopes down from the top of the garden pretty steep I have a disability so I cannot do much at all. My partner works for himself so its the time factor with him taking time off to do it but he is not a gardener and we have no idea really what we are going to do with the garden or how to go about it. We look out and it is just a nightmare, we cannot sit out in the summer We have garden furniture but no garden so to speak of to put it in so it remains in the shed. Its not a massive garden at all but just steep as I said, its driving me mad looking out onto it. It would be a good challenge for him to do.. Im sure he would take one look and so no.
regards Carolyn
Hi Tommy, love the show!
I wonder if you could help my brother Graeme, he lives in a very old Gothic house that has been turned into flat's, BUT not very well, mainly damp.
Would be great if you and your team could help. Thanks Gill
Both myself and my husband love to watch all the DIY shows but most of all we love to watch Tommy and Alan. What I love most of all is how they get you involved with the work and how to do things their way. We have had some work started on our house but had to let the builder go, therefore we are in limbo with a half finished garage conversion and decking. We would love the opportunity to meet and work with you both so please come and vist us in North Wales.
Being a pensioner, I watch your shows as often as I can. I am relaying my kitchen floor. Having pulled up the hardboard tiles that were on the floor, I found that they were glued down. How do I get the glue off, that is still sticking to the floor boards? Please reply soon as I intend to relay the floor (not the floor boards) within the next day or two.
THANK YOU.
My husband Martin watches all the programmes and the other day while watching the programme with him we both had the same thought. Our property is built on a steep bank and the garage goes back into the garden so that the pitched roof is above ground in our garden like a big tent. We have thought about removing the roof and making a patio on top of a new flat roof so that we have a nice flat useable area instead of a U shape around the garage roof. We are sure it would make a really unusual challenge for Tommy and make interesting viewing.
I love the challenge program and I have a number of projects that may be suitable for new program or program filler from replacement roof's both flat and tiled, replace a raised patio and steps and replace a poorly layed large tarmac driveway.
P.S. I will stick the kettle on in case
Could you tell me if there any plans to do a new series of challeng tommy walsh.
thanks Paul
i have had no response locally for a quote to convert loft space in bungalow after watching your programme i appeal to you and your team to consider putting loft conversion for staircase and large bedroom and family bathroom. i am partially sighted as a result of having diabetes and the work is beyond me now. but as i stated before i cannot find anyone interested to give us a quote never mind actually doing the work i do not mind paying a good price for the work but cannot find anyone, you are my last hope, i know that where i live is remote but hope you and your team can help, please consider us in your workload thanks
My son and his family live in Trowbridge Wiltshire and have done plenty of their own renovations with the help of my husband. They have two young children and now find that the front porch is coming away from the house and literally falling down. Feeling that this is quite a big job to be doing themselves and not having much building experience I hope you will concider them for one of your projects.
Thanks Anita Silk
i have a near impossible problem. we bought a house in spain before the block was finished. the bedrooms are below the ground level. unfortuneatly there are twelve underground garages on one side and fifty five parking spaces on the other. all of these are accessable by very noisey metal doors which close six feet from our bed. the wife cannot sleep.we need help
I am getting over cancer on 3 monthly checkups and would like Tommy to do a short driveway and a piece of land to his design with one of his magic circles, edging and small flower beds.
my husband has always watched all tommys programmes, and ts his dream to meet tommy and chat with him. we have got a garden that needs doing too but he would rather just meet tommy, that would make his day. he could do the garden too if he wants but not a necessity, he really wants to just meet him please help me make his wish come true. thankyou.

hi tommy have i got a challenge for you .two story bay window the brickwork [weight] is sitting on the bottom window not a lot of support but im on the last stage and now out of my depth seriously need your help and knowledge in this area. please please please come and do a show at my house ,would be great to shake your hand and have a cup of tea with you pete (hampshire)
Hi Tommy
We bought our house about three years ago and worked like bulldozers on the garden, which, at the time was nothing but an overgrown field of weeds and brambles - not to mention the rusty prams, barbed wire, builders debris and the old tiled fireplace that was buried there. In the summer our garden looks lovely and we have built a huge pond which is full of frogs.
The only problem we have with the house is that the kitchen is small and poorly designed. We have come up with a solution that would solve the problem of the kitchen and have the added advantage of allowing us to enjoy the garden, which at present we cannot really see - a single storey extension.
We had an architect draw up the plans which the council approved. That was two years ago and all that our extension is, is an unfulfilled dream.
We were looking forward to our new kitchen and thought it was going to be built in Spring 2006, after a year of waiting our builders said they didn't have the time to spare.
We had no success finding a suitable replacement no matter how hard we tried.
We haven't been helped by devastating personal tragedies and the problems have been mounting up and we fear now that our plans will never happen.
We hope you and the team will consider our challenge and bring back some sunshine to our lives, thank you.
We were so sorry to find that our message was not understood as this means so much to us. We have gone through so much over the last two years and finally getting our kitchen extension would be wonderful. We don't know how else to go about this now except to ask Tommy to come and do a show. He seems like such a kind person and we need some kindness in our lives. Our kitchen extension, for which we have plans and planning permision for was something to look forward too but, couldn't get it of the ground. Since then a lot of things have taken our time and sadly we are worn out with grief. If Tommy could do this extension for us it would lift our hearts and be a new beginning for us. thank you.
Hi Tommy and Alan Are you considering a new series. If you are we would dearly love to work with you both on a bungalow that we bought over a year ago and want to double the size and add basement.. Very concerned about latter
Dedicated followers of 'Tommy' who has inspired us, 'If they can do it so can we...' So, we sold our Council House, to buy a place to do up, BUT... none available in this area, like hens teeth, so, with the money we were able to buy a 50 acre 11th century farm/village in Normandy France.(15 mins from Caen Ferry) It came with PP for all the buildings to be converted, our plan is to convert to living, for deprived city, children to have educational and fun holidays, as we are a stones throw from amazing activities here. No TV etc here yet,
We have to keep popping back to watch the recorded programmes to help us with the renovation tips, and so far so good but could do with some help as it's just Steve and I and it's hard and slow going... what would we do without Tommy,, our total inspiration... can you spare the lads for a few weeks.. paid of course..to give us a leg up...

Hi Tommy, Hi Big Al,
I have been in the motor trade the last 10 years and always been a keen DIY'er and a follower of your programmes since Ground Force. So much so I have given it all up to be a handy man and enter the property market. I have a number of projects running in my home and really really need a hand with a conservatory erection and garden makeover. It would be a real boost and I'm confident it'll make great TV as I share the same humour as you guys, (oh and Sally makes great tea and cakes). I am a huge fan of yours and Al's work and both your personalities on screen make for great viewing. Please consider our request, we would love to welcome you both to sunny (!!) Donny.

eTommy and Al, I need help and thought this would make a brilliant and entertaining programme! My son has just become Welsh Under 16 Junior snooker champion, he's now 13. We have just moved into our dream house with a double garage and large garden which has massive potential.I was hoping to get a snooker table installed so my son could practice and reach his full potential (Ladbrookes odds today are 33/1 of him becoming snooker world champion by age 30)but the garage is too small, there is the possibility of installing an alpine shed!we are situated on the beautiful gower coast with endless mugs of tea and three beautiful village pubs. p.s.love your shows.
Hi Tommy.I live in an ex semi detached council house. The back door is on the side of the house with 3 large steps going up to it, which stop me from getting my car past them, therefore I cannot have a garage. I would like this door blocked up and the steps removed and have French windows at the back. All ideas appreciated.
Hi Tommy. I am a full time mum of 24yrs old with a full time job, my 40yr old husband has recently had a heart attack and cannot do the jobs he planned to do this summer such as our garden which is 90ft by 50ft which we would love to have decking and a play area for our 2yrs old daughter my husband would also like to build a brick built storage area after our garden shed was broken into and almost everything was stolen, to store his motor bike and garden tools and furniture. We cannot afford to get this all done as my husband is now out of work for a while due to his health. We would love it if you would consider taking this project on. I can make as many cups of tea as you can drink.
Hi,

I have renovated the majority of our 250 yr old cottage myself but am stumped by this problem, any ideas?

Dear Tommy, I have recently been discharged from the RAF and purchased a Victorian town house with my boyfriend. Because of the age of the house we had a full survey carried out which found just a few minor problems for example the Chimney needed re-pointing. Because we received copies of the damp proofing guarentee we had the same builder come into our house to honour his guarentee and because he was happy to come back we employed him for all other works to be done. He presented us with a quotation stating that he would begin work on the 30th April and that all work carried out would take only 10 days I thought this was slightly ambitious but i had 3 months worth of wages to oversee the renovation. He also presented us with a copy of his cartificate for the Chartered Institute of Builders leaving us with the confidence that he was a professional. Everything that has been carried out by his company in my house is an absoloute shambles and a disgrace to the building profession. They have ruined the solid oak flooring I bought to name just one of their disasters. Now 4 months on the house is in a worse state than when they started and we have recently discovered that his certificate is a fraud. We have spoken to a solicitor and they have said that because we have only paid half of the total bill he could use that against us in a claim and that proving what they have done wrong would be difficult. I am heartbroken that what should have been a beautiful first property is still a building site and that the work that he has carried out all needs re-done. The distress alone that this man has caused and yet he gets to walk away scot free. Is there anything which can be done considering he lulled us in with false documentation?
Are you looking for people to take part in upcoming series?
hi tommy are you looking for new challenges as i am disabled with 6 children and want a big shed come playhouse for them as it is not safe for them to go out into the streets to play thanx
My rear garden slopes downwards away from house it is dangerous to mow etc and now my baby id almost due I decided to get a landscape gardener is who built a meter tall wall stretching to whole width of the garden half way down to level the top half(haha wall) My question is do I need planning?? also the wall stops short a mere 1cm from the boundary wall and only soil touches is this a problem or could it be for the neighbours. The wall has been well constructed with draining holes every meter or short. The length of the wall is 15 meters. I live in a small village in Bulgaria and there are 12 English resident in this village.Living here is stepping back in time about 50yrs.We asked our mayor if we could put something back into it and he said he would like the church renovated if possible so we have just started having car boots and one or two ideas in the pipeline but it is going to be a long job.I know Tommy likes a big challenge and this would certainly be that.Is there any hope of a programme being made Please!!!

Hello Tommy I dont know if you can help me but as I see so many other mails here I live in hope! My mother died 3 years ago and left my family a house with 2 acres of land in Ireland. We would really like to sell it but at present its very difficult. I think it would be nice to make it look better then perhaps one of us could live there or we could rent it out. Its really in the middle of nowhere (Leitrim) it gets a lot of rain! The land is mostly clay but just about anything grows there. I quite like to go there when I want to be alone. There are a lot of horse chestnut trees and many others which Im too ignorant to know. There is a little run off stream and I would really like to make it more of a feature. Also a good few years ago I saw Kirsty McCaw talking about her garden. She had a reed pond which I would really like to have there. Its perfect for that kind of thing also Id like to use rain water instead of paying the water board. I have lots of other ideas but no money! If you are interested please email me if you have time. I would love to do something with it instead of leaving it to rot! With kind regards and wishing you a very merry christmas Niki Power
we had a bathroom altered to a walk in shower room 6 years ago.
it was re-plastered and we left it how it was, however 1 yr ago we decided to paint it. but now the paint is starting to peel off in various places in the room.
i would really apreciate it if you could give me any ideas or advice on what to do before we repaint it again
thanks tommy
from geoff
are you looking for challenges as i think we have a good one for you, please reply. and for "geoffery" below. sand the plaster and paint it with watered down paint before applying the final coat. also make sure you use the correct paint for the area.
i challenge you to help us with a very small extension on the side of our house in york. i know you would rather like it here as there is lots of history, the york minster, lots of pubs and even the famous YORK BREWERY.

Hi Tommy and Alan. We have a challenge for you both!! We have a rear garden on a slope with a stream at the bottom, at our lovely cottage in Chadderton Oldham. We would love you to come and lend a hand in helping with bulding a decking on this slope, and also to help with the patio, small walls and steps which are an eyesore at the moment. There's plenty to get your teeth into here, and we wondered if we could come up with a design that lends itself to the open woodland aspect we have at the back of our house.
The kettle's on Tommy, just give us the nod!!

Darling Tommy, I have a challenge for you, I have recently had conservatory extended and we have a hot tub in the garden and need to link the decking from the conservatory to the hot tub, and not too sure of how to do this as diffent levels are required, to make it look spectacular as only you could possibly do . would you like to take this challenge and help me please....
Hi Tommy. Due to the current world crisis, a move to Devon with a transfer of job and our own house in the Midlands now being let because of the decrease in sales, a small project we have with a 5 year plan to renovate in Keriel, Brittany, is a little more urgent than once was. Our thoughts are that if we put our money and energy into this little property and everything in the UK does go pear shaped, we will have either somewhere to go (that's our plan Z) or a small income from lettings. Our 4 weeks holiday per year is not giving us the time to move forward with this in the time we now need to. How'er fixed? I have plenty of pictures should you wish to take me up on this challenge. It's not derelict by a long way, but does need some expertise. I do hope you can help and I look forward very much to hearing from you.
Kindest Regards
Hayley
Hi tommy really need your help my garden is in such a mess my partner is trying to get rid of all horrible weeds and things, we have 2 small children and cant allow them to play in the garden. Hi Tommy and crew
I am a 60 yr old disabled person that has got to a stage in the doing up of our bungalow where I need some help,we would like a couple of short concrete paths laid and the garden covered in membrane and pebbles to make it more maintenece free, the decking is to be extended also in the hope of making more user freindly and giving access to the garden room in one corner of the garden. The reason for doing all this work is the very heavy clay soil we have wich unfortunatley leads to the garden being flooded whenever we get heavy rain. My Garage still has a dirt floor in half of it and the roof leaks and the access door needs replacing. So there youare a number of jobs to be loked at and we would be really happy if you think you could help in any way.
John
Ps the bacon butties are a bit special as we use bacon from the local butcher..
I live with my mum who is on benefits so this means only one wage coming in. I have done my best since buyiny our council house, putting in double glazing, having a walk in shower put in the bathroom as my mam is getting on a bit also a stair lift. I would like to board out our loft as we have no storage but am a bit short of what the professionals charge. I am actively saving up to do this though, but it would be great if you thought this a challenge for you. Would love to get my hands dirty helping out and learning at the same time. Challenge Tommy well that's what I'm doing.
Hi Guys, I doubt that this request would be first in line, however if your looking for diversity and a blank canvas I have a drive way of 69m2. I have removed the old drive and the easy option would to have block paving I would like someone with imagination to have a look to see if theres an alternative or can block paving be creative? Cheers Ian
Dear Tommy,
My wife, son and I live in a delapidated 100 year old miners cottage near Doncaster and we've done what we can to update it, but due to a combination of ill health, cowboys and general old age it's getting beyond us.
My wife has decided to take on a project which I feel is beyond her, and me, and would greatly appreciate the advice of a trusted professional like your goodself.
Is there anything you can do?

Hi We've been in our house a year now since moving from the south to the north, we have a double garage and since moving in we told our children they could have one side as a plyhouse, however nothing has been done, i did decide to start the project myself but after drawing up what i think i need to do i'm now not so sure... a little scared of drilling where i shouldn't. Will you help a mother who is going mad everytime her children bring there friends in...
Hi Tommy
Wondered if you would take on the challenge of my garden.
Its big enough to put a house on but all i would like is some help and ingenuity for a small area which is just hard core.
It could be a water feature or decking but i am clueless.
Love your shows great work
Thanks
Hello Tommy
Don't know if this would be a challenge for you but it is for me.We`live in an old victorian school house which is over a 117years old.My husband does some diy but it takes him a long time as he works 6 days a week.We currently have a downstairs bathroon without bath that is being used as a utility and a smallkitchen which needs updating. I thought we might be able to return the bathroom to its original use and make the kitchen into a utility. This would mean building a kitchen on what is now a raised patio with old bushelter type consevetory. There are patio doors from the dinning room onto the conservertory. I think we could have a kitchen with one side full of windows for light and/or use velux in the roof.My husband doesnt think this can be done and as yet we seem to be at an impase as how best to do it. He said he had seen an advert for your show and as we have watched often I thought I would see if you could help. Regards Sue

My son in law is great at diy but the house is causing him problems because he doesn't have the time as he is working all the time to keep the family. He has rebuilt the kitchen that is on the back of the house. Above that is the flat roof that is the only garden they have. They would love to get it done with decking and railing or a wall so they could sit out in the evening. We are all in good health but time is the killer . He would love the help
thankyou

Hi Tommy My family moved in with my Father when my Mother passed away and he had an extension built. He then was planning on having the old toilet and coal house turned into a utility room. Sadly my father suddenly passed away at Christmas and I havn't got a clue on where to start as he always managed any thing like this. My daughter has Aspergers which is on the Autistic
range and hates disruption in her routeen. I love watching you on all your TV programmes you get things done quickly and efficiently so I challenge Tommy to help me with this project.

Hi there
Is there ANY chance that you could ask Tommy where to acquire a circular ornamental gate similar to the one installed in the garden of one of the last Groundforce programmes? I have tried hundreds of sites and also asked help from the BBC to no avail.
Many thanks,
Sandra
