River Cottage: Gone Fishing
Where would the British seaside be without fish and chips? Fish is one of the UK's favourite foods and the benefits of eating it regularly are widely reported. From sardines to smoked salmon to scampi, fish takes pride of place on Britain's menus and still rates as one of the UK's favourite dishes. But with diminishing fish stocks, there's a crisis at sea. So what's a fish lover to do? Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's investigation continues in another of the British Isles' fishiest hotspots: the Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland. He learns how strongly the sea, and the food it provides, have shaped life on these islands. Diving, fishing and pulling pots, he sources the most succulent shellfish and most sustainable salmon, and tries running a Skye chippy, using only eco-friendly fish he's caught himself.
