Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, returns to River Cottage to harvest the best that autumn has to offer, all wrapped up in the ultimate seasonal food magazine.
When I was 4 yrs old I lived in the slums of Aston in Birmingham. Once a week my mother and I would walk through the rough cobbled streets lit by gas lamps to my music lessons. On the way mom would drop of two plates to an old lady who used to make faggots and mushy peas. We would collect them on the way home and eat them hot to keep warm, I have loved them always and have tried unsuccessfully to make them but now I have the recipe I will try again.
