Film by Golden Globe-winner Ricky Gervais, shot during his first ever stand-up tour, Animals. The programme features not just Ricky's performance at the Bloomsbury Theatre, but also backstage footage of his private life, sharing some of the preparations and frustrations involved in writing and performing a sell-out West End run. The finished show was deemed "a delight... revealing a hitherto unsuspected side of gentle, animal-loving charm" by the Sunday Times. "Unmistakeable genius" said The Times. The Independent considered it "The best thing to happen to British comedy in years" and, according to The Observer, "Gervais has proved that he is a remarkably talented performer on stage as well as on screen".
