Featuring some of the funniest clips from the most popular comedy shows of the last 50 years, this three-hour special also has exclusive interviews with the writers, actors, comedians and performers behind the immortal lines that have become embedded in the collective national psyche. Covering comedy catchphrases from both Britain and America, the programme explores the origins of the stand-out punchlines and explores how they worked their way into our memories: whether by constant repetition; or as the parting line of each episode; plus those that were only said once; and others that were never said at all. Includes exclusive interviews with Terry Jones, Catherine Tate, Ardal O'Hanlon, Richard Wilson, Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, Arabella Weir, Bruce Forsyth and Steve Pemberton.

    Hi there,

I watched The greatest comedy catchphrases over the Christmas period & would love to know the theme tune. As far as I can remember, it was just music but I recognise it. It's really bugging me, not knowing what it is!
